SEATTLE, Wash.— While
McCall DeChenne stole the show with a provisional mark alongside a small number of Wildcats down in Arizona, Central Washington continued to set strong marks as its outdoor season continued at the Doris Heritage Track Festival Saturday afternoon in Seattle.
"There was plenty of personal records and great marks today," Central Washington Head Coach
Kevin Adkisson said. "We're excited to really see people competing hard as we work into the spring. I'm Finally glad to get the winter quarter over with and begin our transition into spring form. Looking ahead, we're in great shape to have a very exciting spring season."
HOT HEAT IN ARIZONA
DeChenne was the star of the show down at the Willie Williams Classic at the University of Arizona. While finishing second in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a final time of 1:01.60, it was both a lifetime personal best and provisional time for nationals. DeChenne also hit a lifetime personal best in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 56.97 seconds.
Austin Albertin had a lifetime personal best in the men's 400-meter dash with a final time of 48.8 seconds. Albertin continued his success in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing second with a lifetime best of 53.62 seconds.
Aiden Wise found himself a lifetime personal best as well, finishing the men's 110 hurdles with a final time of 15.23 seconds.
"We are excited to have such big marks early in the season, the rest of this spring looks very bright," Central Washington Assistant Coach
Brittany Aanstad said.
STRONG FINISHES IN SEATTLE
Both the men and women found success in the 100-meter dash.
E'lexis Hollis paved way taking second with a final time of 12.54 seconds, while
Zachary Davis took third for the men with a final time of 11.31 seconds.
Bryan Sidor has a strong day in the men's 200-meter dash, bringing home second for the 'Cats with a time of 22.27 seconds.
Megan Smallbeck continued to showcase her strength in the women's hammer-throw, finishing second with a mark of 43.87m (143').
Angus Beaton would not be left behind, matching Smallbeck with a second-place finish in the men's hammer with a mark of 48.54m (159').
Avery Fisk continued to build momentum in the women's shot put, placing second with a mark of 12.38m (40'). The mark is four-feet further than last weeks throw at Seattle Pacific (36').
Tre Silva found himself in the top three for the men's long jump, taking third with a final distance of 6.48m (21'). Silva also placed second in the men's triple jump, covering a distance of 12.35m (40').
Makaylee Young found a third-place finish for the women's long jump as well, with a final mark of 5.22m (17').
Kylie Griffin finished second in the women's high jump, finishing with a mark of 1.51m (4').
Drew Klein brought home third place for the men in the pole vault, finishing with a final height of 4.16m (13').
The Wildcats next challenge awaits them at the Peyton Shotwell Invitational on the campus of Puget Sound. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 26
