ELLENSBURG, Wash.—Even with a combined 21 hits in today's game, Central Washington (7-12 Overall, 1-3 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) was unable to cage Northwest Nazarene in the final two games of the series. The Wildcats fell by way of 13-10 in game one, and 11-4 in game two on Saturday.
"We got out played," Central Washington Head Coach
Desi Storey said. "We competed all day, but we couldn't catch up after giving up some big innings."
Adam Fahsel, had a day at the plate, hitting 4-7 through both contests. Fahsel scored three runs alongside three runs batted in and drawing a single walk.
Drew Richardson and
Gabe Bustamante gave Central an opportunity in game two, coming out of the bullpen and throwing a combined two perfect innings with three strikeouts.
Austin Ohland added two more doubles in game one to his GNAC-leading total (14), while Fahsel doubled once in both games as well.
Parker Price led Northwest Nazarene with a six-hit day, going 6-10 at the plate. Price added two doubles, one steal, four runs, and two run's batted in.
Blake McFadden (3-0) earned the win in game one, throwing 3.1 innings and allowing just one earned run on two hits and one walk alongside four strikeouts. Max Holtzclaw (2-0) grabbed his fifth save of the year holding down Central with just one earned run, two hits and three strikeouts through his two innings of work.
Spencer Schwehr (2-2) collected the win in game two, allowing only two earned runs alongside four strikeouts through his 5.1 innings of work.
The Wildcats return to conference play next weekend at Western Oregon. Central will play another pair of doubleheaders on Saturday, Mar. 12
th, and Sunday, Mar. 13
th. First pitch both days is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
