ELLENSBURG, Wash. – After a successful week against strong competition in California, Central Washington is slated to host its annual Wildcat Invitational this Saturday.
The Invitational will take place at the CWU Recreation Sports Complex. The first events will begin at 10:00 a.m.
"We're really excited to have our home meet," Central Washington Head Coach
Kevin Adkisson said. "It is great for our athletes to get a refresher. They get to sleep in their own bed, not have to leave at the crack of dawn, and feel that home field advantage. There will be some great competition tomorrow and we are all looking forward to some strong marks and finishes."
The Wildcats welcome programs such as Clackamas Community College, Eastern Washington, Everett Community College, Green River College, Northwest University, Olympic College, Pierce College, Saint Martin's, Seattle Pacific, Spokane Community College, Western Washington, and various unattached athletes.
McCall DeChenne leads Central with two National Provisionals through the season thus far. DeChenne owns a provisional in the women's heptathlon (4,657 points) and the women's 400-meter hurdles (1:01.60).
Zachary Sundt enters the meet hot off of a big personal best. Sundt topped his previous best in the 1500-meter down at the Beach Invitational with a time of 3:56.28.
Erica Cabanos returns to the horizontal jumps after a week of practice and rest. Cabanos won the triple-jump with a mark of 11.15m (36') and took second in the long-jump with a distance of 5.26m (17') at the Whitworth Peace Invitational.
Zachary Davis and
Bobby Widmar look to improve at home, finishing with times of 11.10 and 11.11 seconds respectively at the Beach Invitational.
Austin Albertin is set for a big weekend at home. The Finley, Washington, native won the men's 400-meter hurdles at the Long Beach State Twilight open with a time of 53.86 seconds.
The meet is schedule to begin at 10:00 a.m. with the women's hammer, men's discus, and the women's javelin.
