ABOUT THE MEET:
The Wildcats enter the Cougar Classic coming off multiple top 10 finishes and a GNAC record performance from
Elise Hopper at Bryan Clay. Hopper broke the conference record in the women's 400 meters with a time of 53.04 and placed fifth in the 200 meters, giving CWU strong momentum entering this weekend.
Central Washington also saw standout relay performances, with the women's 4x100 relay placing fourth and the women's 4x400 relay finishing fifth. In the field events,
Josh Boast and
Matthew Bender led the way in the triple jump, while Calvon Baker added a top 10 finish in the high jump.
The Wildcats also received strong performances from
Payton Conover in the women's 10,000 meters and from
Kamila Salanoa,
Wes Kriete, and
Maliyah Gordon in the throws.
Ellie DeGroot added another top 10 results on the track in the 400-meter hurdles.
With the postseason approaching, the Cougar Classic presents another key opportunity for Central Washington athletes to improve marks, build confidence, and prepare for the championship portion of the outdoor season.
