NAMPA, Idaho.— In a pair of pitchers duels capped off by a no-hitter from the Nighthawks Haden Keller in the nightcap, Central Washington dropped the final two in its four-game Great Northwest Athletic Conference series to Northwest Nazarene 2-0 and 3-1 Saturday afternoon.
"I thought we pitched very well today overall," Central Washington Head Coach
Desi Storey said. "We couldn't get our offense going and it was a tough pair of games this afternoon."
While earning the loss in game one, Central's Nolan Miliman (1-2) put forth a strong effort in his second start of the season. Miliman threw 5.0 innings allowing just one unearned run on two hits and three walks alongside four strikeouts.
Jonathan Garza II came in on relief in the game one, allowing just one earned run on two hits, one walk, and four strikeouts through his 3.0 innings pitched.
The story of game two was Keller (5-2) for the Nighthawks. The right-hander for NNU threw a 7.0 inning complete game while not allowing a single hit for the Wildcats. Keller struck out 10 and missed perfection by just three walks and two hit batters.
Dylan Weese (1-3) had a strong outing in game two allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits and one walk. Weese also struck out four across his 5.0 innings on the mound.
Michael Copeland provided two of the Wildcats four hits in game one.
Zach Berryman and
Charlie Larson added the remaining two.
Adam Fahsel scored in game two, coming around on a ground ball to second base from
Austin Ohland after being walked to reach base.
Duke Pahukoa and Keller had the only two-hit days for the Nighthawks. NNU shortstop Parker Price knocked in three of teams five runs across both games.
Central Washington continues GNAC play as they welcome Western Oregon next Friday, April 15
th, for another four-game series.
