ELLENSBURG, Wash. – After a strong start to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships with the combined events last Tuesday, Central Washington is sending a small group to Linfield and Oregon for one final chance at reaching conference marks this Saturday.
"We are pleased that our schedule allows us to get in one final meet before the conference championships," Central Washington Head Coach
Kevin Adkisson said. "Although we do our best to make sure it is at the conference meet, we want all our athletes to have a big season finale. It is a small group but were taking advantage of our one final opportunity to get some more entries in the conference meet."
Drew Klein led the Wildcats through the GNAC Combined Championships earlier this week. Klein earned a second-place finish with a total of 6,436 points: the eighth-best mark in program history.
Logan Easley took seventh with a total of 5,482 points. Easley scored a personal-best in the pole vault with a height of 3.65m (11').
McCall DeChenne was the final competitor in the GNAC Championships. DeChenne finished third with an overall total of 4,751. The total is both a new personal-best, improves her national provisional, and remains third for total-points in the program record books.
The final two meets will give the Wildcats one final chance to hit conference provisional and reach the GNAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 13-14
