Wildcats Fall to Vikings 4-0

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington Women's Soccer fell 4-0 to Western Washington on Saturday afternoon.

"Western Washington was the better team today. Hopefully, we can learn from this experience and find success on the road next week.

FIRST HALF
  • Claire Potter and Morgan Manalili of Western Washington had their early shots punched away by Danika Galbraith.
  • The Vikings earned a free kick at the edge of the box in the 15th minute. Mogan Manalili stepped up and buried it into the bottom left corner for the 1-0 lead.
  • In the 18th minute, Western Washington drew a foul in the box. Gracen Crosby stepped up to take the penalty kick and found the back of the net to extend Western's lead.
  • Despite late attempts by Paige Savage and Cassidie Andrews, Claire Henninger's saves ensured the Vikings went into halftime with the 2-0 lead.

SECOND HALF
  • Emily Darcy kick-started the second half with a shot that flew high. The 'Cats best chance of the game came when Andrews got in behind, but Henninger won the footrace and made the save.
  • The 'Cats took two more shots in regulation. Sami Huber laced one to the bottom left and Henninger sprawled out to preserve the 2-0 scoreline.
  • Minji Rauch scored in the 70th minute and Claire Potter added another tally in the 89th minute.

UP NEXT
  • The Wildcats will look to return to form for next week's road matches against Seattle Pacific and Montana State Billings.
