SEATTLE, Wash. – Johan Correa won his third straight race finishing the 8K in 25:07 this Saturday at the Emerald City Cross Country Open. The women's team finished third and the men took fourth.

Hannah Mikkelsen led the women completing the 6K in 16
th with a time of 25:04.1.
QUOTING HEAD COACH JONATHAN HILL
"We knew today would present some challenges, but just like we have been doing all year, our guys are rising to meet them. Our regular season schedule is one that we believe will prepare us for the GNAC Championships. Today was a good rehearsal for high-performance races down the road."
When asked about individual performances he spoke highly about three runners. "Johan ran a smart race on a tough course and broke it open the back half to win by 23 seconds. Our Big Breakthroughs came today from two freshmen, Max and Chase running as our 4 & 5. Their efforts really helped our team total in a tight race between 3
rd and 4
th."
Hill spoke on the women's performance. "Our women look stronger and more composed every time they step on the course. One of the many strengths of this team is their commitment to each other. We faced some adversity but fought through as a group.
Today was about our freshmen!
Hannah Mikkelsen took the lead today and finished 16
th overall. She saw that it was her time to step up and she did. We demonstrated
team racing all through the unit with packs at 21/22/23 Lauren, Nicole and Camryn both freshmen and 28/29/31/32/35 with Madi, Ava, Beatrice, Eva & Hannah."
RACE RESULTS
Steiner Christensen was the 'Cats second best runner and placed 20
th with a time of 27:36.2,
Colin Hitchcock wasn't far behind Steiner he crossed the line in 27:40, and
Max Hutton was the fourth runner taking 35
th place with a time of 28:30.6.
Lauren Thompson,
Nicole Yanasak, and
Camryn Holterhoff finished 21
st, 22
nd, and 23
rd respectively.
