Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

‘Cats Blanked by Red Leafs 4-0

BURNABY, B.C. – Central Washington women's soccer suffered a tough 4-0 loss to Simon Fraser on Saturday.

QUOTING HEAD COACH LINDSEY LEE
"The better team won today. I am hopeful we can learn from this experience. We have to get back to work and train hard for next week."

FIRST HALF
  • The Red Leafs drew a penalty in the 15th minute. Kate Cartier stepped up to the spot and nailed it into the upper left corner for the lead.
  • Jaxyn Farmen responded in the 18th minute. She unleashed a high shot that Sarah Loewen handled.
  • The Red Leafs continued to pepper Galbraith in the late stages of the half. Kiera Scott tested Galbraith low and then three minutes later Raegan Mackenzie put one high and on target that Galbraith saved.
  • In the final minute of the half, Finn Sprankle found space at the top of the box, shooting a low one towards Loewen who made the save to preserve the lead going into the break.
SECOND HALF
  • Mikayla Tupper scored twice early in the second half to extend the Red Leafs lead to three. Tupper's third goal was FIFA style as she stole the ball away in the box after a goal kick and launched it into the back of the net.
  • In the 65th minute, Peyton Vogel went on the attack and took a shot that sailed just left of the post.
  • In the 73rd minute, Chelsea Crocq received a pass from Katelyn Magdalinski, took one touch in the box, and fired it into the lower left corner to give the Red Leafs the four-goal advantage.
  • The offensive waves from Simon Fraser kept coming for the entire 90 minutes. Which led to the Red Leafs outshooting the Wildcats 20 to 8 with 11 on target to Centrals 4.
UP NEXT
  • Central Washington continues their road stint next week, traveling to face Western Oregon and Northwest Nazarene.
