‘Cats Dominate Game One, Drop Game Two Against Stanislaus State

TURLOCK, Calif. – Central Washington shut out Stanislaus State 6-0 in game one. In game two, the Warriors took game two, 8-4. Their 6-0 game-one win snapped a fifteen-game losing streak to Stanislaus State.

QUOTING HEAD COACH DESI STOREY
"Brayde threw similar to how he did last weekend, did a great job getting ahead of the count, and landed his off-speed. We played good defense and made big plays behind him when we needed it. We finally figured their guys out and scored runs late."

Desi added, "We played well. I feel like we battled in game two, we came back and fought well. We gave up a couple late and they pulled away. The guys battled well against the lefty and got him out of the game. I thought the guys played very well today."
 
GAME ONE
  • Sam Lauderdale got the 'Cats on the board in the top of the third, launching a solo shot over the right field wall. Central Washington added two more runs in the fourth. Austin Ohland doubled to right center scoring helm. Next, Trenton Love hit a single up the middle scoring Ohland.
  • Lauderdale made it 5-0 in the 8th with a single through the right side that scored Ohland and Travis Helm.
  • Helm roped a double to center field driving in Charlie Larson which gave the 'Cats a 6-0 victory.
  • Brayde Hirai got the win, he and Nolan Milliman combined for the shutout.
 
HITTING  
PITCHING
  • Brayde Hirai recorded his 2nd win of the season, completing a fantastic outing. Hirai threw 8.1 innings, faced 32 batters, recorded two strikeouts, and didn't allow a run.
  • Nolan Milliman came in and recorded the final two outs for the 'Cats.
 
GAME TWO
  • It was all Stanislaus State through the first four innings. The Warriors got to Arredondo and scored three runs. Jacob Baker's single to right field made it 3-0.
  • The Crimson and Black fought back in the fifth to tie it at three. Kevin "Baba" Varner Jr. singled to left scoring Charlie Larson and Trevor Tripoli.
  • Later in the inning, a single from Ben Leid drove in Varner Jr. to tie the game.
  • Kyle Rachels got a hold of one hitting it over the center field wall to put the Warriors ahead 4-3.
  • The 'Cats scored on an error in the seventh, bringing the score to 4-5.
  • Stanislaus State scored three more runs to take the 8-4 victory.
 
HITTING
  • Kevin Varner "Baba" Jr. went 2-3 with two RBI's and Charlie Larson hit 2-5 scoring a run. Additionally, Ben Leid went 1-4 with an RBI.
 
PITCHING
  • Ryan Arredondo threw six innings and recorded a strikeout. Jonathan Garza II came in recording an out and Gabe Bustamante threw 1.2 innings tying up two batters.
  • For Stanislaus State LaKeal Morris got the win, throwing 1.1. innings and recording a strikeout.
