Chandler, Maier, and Men's 4x400 Team Win Titles at GNAC Indoor Championships

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Central Washington University indoor track & field team wrapped up competition at the GNAC Indoor Championships on Tuesday with Lauryn Chandler, Braydon Maier, and the men's 4x400 team bringing home 1st place hardware.

"We're always excited to come home with some champions. I'm really happy I mean there were quite a few other PRs and people continuing to make that progress on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Chandler finished 1st in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.57 seconds. Not only was Chandler's time a PR, but it also landed her 10th in the nation, 4th all-time in the GNAC, and 2nd all-time in school history.
- "I just trust the process, did what I could, and got the job done," Chandler said. "I think I just tried to treat every track meet like GNACs so when it came to GNACs, it'd come easy."
Maier took home 1st place in the pole vault, where he logged a clearance of 15' 5.75", and finished 2nd in the heptathlon with a score of 4,831.
- "It feels good," Maier said. "This is my first indoor GNAC title so that was cool and taking some cracks at 16' was pretty sweet."
The men's 4x400 team made up of Isaiah Webster, Aiden Wise, Austin Albertin, and Johan Correa won the race with a time of 3.19:15, breaking the indoor school record.
E'lexis Hollis placed 2nd in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.46 seconds. Her time was a PR, broke the school record, and placed her currently 11th in the nation.
Aiden Wise took home 2nd place in the 60-meter hurdles with a PR of 8.37 seconds, tied for 5th all-time in school history.
In the high jump, Kylie Griffin got 2nd place with a lead of 5' 3.25", tying her season-best.
The women's 4x400 team of Juliette Williams, Elise Hopper, Donna Marie Harris, and McCall DeChenne finished 2nd in the race with a time of 3:50.97, placing them 3rd in CWU's all-time list.
DeChenne also took home 2nd place in the 400-meter dash (57.93).
Juliette Williams placed 3rd in the 200-meter dash. Her time of 24.83 earned her a provisional qualifier and the 3rd spot on CWU's all-time list.
Johan Correa broke his school record in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.85.
Sarah Sewell finished 3rd in the pentathlon with a score of 3,003.
Erica Cabanos got 3rd in the triple jump with a leap of 37' 11.5" which was a season-best and put 4th in CWU's all-time list. She also took home 5th in the long jump with a PR of 17' 8".
Drew Klein finished 3rd in the heptathlon with a score of 4,540.
Both the men's and women's teams came in 4th place. The men finished with a score of 76.5 while the women finished with a score of 90.

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will head back to Dempsey Indoor in Seattle, Wash. for the Ken Shannon Last Chance Meet this weekend before the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in March.
