‘Cats Split Home Series Against Saint Martin’s

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington Baseball split their doubleheader with Saint Martin's on Sunday losing game one 10-13 and then taking game two 6-4.

QUOTING HEAD COACH DESI STOREY
"I think our offense is starting to get pretty consistent which is good to see. I felt like being down 8 runs after two innings in game one and putting ourselves back in it with a chance was huge. I told the guys the mentality is there. I was disappointed in our pitching effort in game one until Drew came in."

Desi added, "In Game two, Daniel pitched great. I thought Alex came in and handled it well. We got out of the sixth with the lead still intact. Our offense gave us an insurance run going into the seventh and Alex finished the game. If we were better on the mound in the first game, we would have had a chance to win."

  • The Saints had their bats going early, scoring four runs in the first inning. Damon Ingram nailed a double down the right field line that drove in two runs and gave SMU the 4-0 lead. In the second inning, Mark Steward hit a single to left field that drove in two runs and started the scoring for the Saints who added two more runs to take an 8-0 lead.
