VIRGINIA BEACH, Virg. - Lauryn Chandler and E'lexis Hollis of the Central Washington University track & field team took their talents to the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships this weekend. Chandler finished 13th in the 60-meter hurdles prelims and Hollis placed 14th in the 60-meter dash prelims.

• "Both gals gave great efforts," Head Coach Kevin Adkisson said. "I'm super proud of what we saw from their efforts as well as what they did the whole indoor season to continue to grow and do some really special things."
• "The gals competed well," Assistant Coach Brittany Hall said. "It was both of their first NCAA appearances. I'm proud of how they competed and even more encouraged by how they responded after coming up short of making the finals. I think this experience will be a building block for bigger things to come for both of them."

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Chandler, a senior from Bremerton, Wash., ran a time of 8.74 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, good for 13th place. Chandler earned her spot in the national championships from a 1st place run of 8.57 seconds at the GNAC Indoor Championships last month.
• Winding up in 14th place, Hollis, a junior from Ellensburg, Wash., ran a time of 7.51 seconds in the third heat of the 60-meter dash prelims. She was only 0.02 seconds off of second place in the heat, which would've earned her a qualifier for the finals tomorrow. Hollis' season-best time also came at the GNAC Indoor Championships where she ran a 7.46 on her way to being the 12th qualifier for nationals.

• Now that the indoor season has concluded, the team will turn their attention to the Doris Heritage Track Festival, hosted by Seattle Pacific University, next Saturday, Mar. 18.
