‘Cats Suffer Tough Loss to the Blues

ELLENSBURG, WASH. – Central Washington Baseball lost to Whitman College 5-7 in a Wednesday non-conference matchup.

QUOTING HEAD COACH DESI STOREY
"Our pitchers did everything that I asked them to do today, each one of the guys did a great job. Routine fly balls turning in to hits cost us the game. Murph did exactly what he was supposed to do. We got to find a way to finish the game. We controlled the whole game we just have to catch a fly ball."

  • The Wildcats tied the game in the third, Varner Jr. hit a single up the middle, stole second, and advanced to third on a past ball. Next up, Ben Leid mashed a double to deep center field that scored Varner Jr. and tied the game at one.

  • With two outs, Charlie Larson doubled down the left field line driving in Tripoli and Lauderdale to give Central Washington the 4-1 lead.
  • Both teams played great defense as no runs scored until the bottom of the seventh when Brady Hinkle roped a triple to right center that scored Love.
