FOREST GROVE, Ore. - The Central Washington University track and field team was out in full force this weekend, competing at four meets in Calif. and Oregon. Lauryn Chandler and McCall DeChenne headlined the performances by earning provisional qualifying times.

QUOTING THE COACHES:

• "We love the way we saw people compete," Head Coach Kevin Adkisson said. "They've been making the most of every opportunity we get, so that was cool to see. We had people weather some tough weather, literally, and competing hard and not giving up."
• "We had a great outing in Calif.," Assistant Coach Brittany Hall said. "We had multiple life-time bests, we even put up a few national marks. Seeing and competing at a high level is a big part of a team's success."

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Wildcats in Calif. started with the Jack Albiani Meet, with Drew Klein winning the 110-meter hurdles (15.35) and Elise Hopper winning the 400-meter dash (58.49), a time that ranks 3rd in the GNAC. Hopper also finished 5th in the 200-meter dash (26.19).
• Juliette Williams finished 2nd in the 100-meter dash (12.24), setting a PR. She also placed 2nd in the 200-meter dash (25.31). Angus Beaton earned a 2nd place finish in the hammer throw with a launch of 166' 2", good for 4th in the conference. Donna Marie Harris also landed a 2nd place finish, this time in the 400-meter dash at 58.93 seconds.
• Transitioning to the Stanford Invitational, DeChenne recorded a best mark. She finished 7th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.19), a provisional qualifying time that ranks 13th in the nation.
• Klein (166' 2") and Braydon Maier (165' 6") either set or matched PRs in the javelin throw.
• At the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, Chandler stole the show with a time of 14.01 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles. Her time set a PR and surpasses the provisional qualifier threshold that ranks 6th in the nation.
• Event winners at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic included Austin Albertin in the 400-meter hurdles (54.49), E'lexis Hollis in the 100-meter dash (11.89), and the 4x100 Relay team of Williams, DeChenne, Chandler and Hollis (47.78), all times that lead the GNAC.
• Williams added a PR in the 100-meter dash (12.21), good for 4th in the meet and 3rd in the conference. Aiden Wise also earned a PR in the 400-meter hurdles (55.68).
• At the Pacific Open, Erica Cabanos logged a pair of event wins in the long jump (16' 3.75") and triple jump (36' 8.25"). Grace Twiss registered the other event in in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.70).
• Madison Thompson in the 800-meter (2:22.08), Tehya Moore in the long jump (15' 7"), and Jazmin Mendoza in the shot put (31' 6.75") logged new PRs.
