ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Four Wildcats and both Wildcat Track and Field teams were honored yesterday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released their yearly All-Academic Athletes and Teams.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either the indoor or outdoor seasons. To qualify for the team honor, the team cumulative GPA must be above a 3.0.
Braydon Maier was the only male individual recognized for CWU. Maier is a Secondary Education major. He won the GNAC Indoor Championship in pole vault this past winter clearing 15' 5.75".
McCall DeChenne is a Biology/Biomedical Science major. DeChenne set a provisional mark in the outdoor season in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.19 at the Stanford Invitational.
E'lexis Hollis is an Education major. Hollis earned her provisional mark in the indoor season in the 60-meter dash early in the season at the Spokane Indoor Challenge with a time of 7.74 seconds. She competed at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships where she logged a 14
th-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.51 seconds.
Hollis earned her provisional mark in the outdoor season in the 100-meter dash at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University. She ran an 11.78 second dash, which she would improve on later in the season before heading to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships where she logged a 15
th-place finish with a time of 11.78 seconds.
Juliette Williams was the final individual that was honored. Williams is a Business Administration major. Williams earned a provisional mark in the 200-meter dash at the GNAC Indoor Championships with a time of 24.83 seconds. Williams was also a part of the women's 4x400 meter relay team that earned provisional marks in the indoor season at the Whitworth Invitational.
Both the men's and women's track and field teams earned All-Academic honors with the cumulative men's GPA coming in at a 3.042 and the cumulative women's GPA coming in at a 3.223.
