ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington women's soccer team (1-6-4, 0-5-3 GNAC) was defeated 1-0 on Saturday afternoon against Northwest Nazarene (3-9-0, 3-5-0 GNAC). The breakthrough came in 82
nd minute as Kate Bleffert rifled a 35-yard shot in the top left corner from a free kick.
FIRST HALF
NNU outshot the 'Cats seven to five as both teams competed at a high level with goal scoring opportunities. Goalkeepers Bailey Blancett and
Danika Galbraith each had two saves to keep the game scoreless. Savanna Herz, Ellie Ritter and Kate Bleffert led the Nighthawks with three shots attempted each.
SECOND HALF
The Nighthawks outshot CWU seven to four as each team searched for their offensive opportunities.
Jordan Bartlow was shown a yellow card in the 59
th minute for a foul in the defensive half.
Lainee Derry,
Maggie McBroom, and
Jordan Bartlow each had a shot on goal for the Wildcats.
Mychael Carbon was also shown a yellow card in the 82
nd minute for a tackle in the defensive half. Moments later, Bleffert takes a free kick, and rifles the shot to the top left corner, securing the breakthrough for NNU.
