Park Scores As ‘Cats fall to Red Leafs

BURNABY, B.C. – Central Washington women's soccer team (1-7-4, 0-6-3 GNAC) suffered a 3-1 defeat on Thursday evening against Simon Fraser (9-3-1, 5-3-1 GNAC).

FIRST HALF
The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute as Mikayla Tupper rifled a shot near the left post to put SFU ahead. The 'Cats were outshot 11 to six but showed offensive poise as Peyton Wilson and Maggie McBroom each had a shot on target, but crucial saves were made by goalkeeper, Kelsey Fisher. Danika Galbraith made a great defensive effort in the 41st minute as she saved a shot rifled from the edge of the box.
 
SECOND HALF
Kelsey Fulton nearly found the breakthrough for CWU as she rifled a shot on goal in the 47th minute but was ultimately denied by Fisher. In the 61st minute, Galbraith made an important save from the penalty spot to keep the Wildcats in the game. In the 78th minute, Kaiden Sherwood doubled the lead for the Red Leafs as she slotted the ball in the back of the net. The assist came from Isabella Muzzolini and Dariella Lopez. Moments later, in the 84th minute, Lopez secured a goal to extend the lead. The assist came from Sherwood as SFU's attack looked strong. In the ensuing kickoff, the 'Cats got on the board as Casey Park found the back of the net on an assist from Kylee Gregory. The Crimson and Black were outshot 22 to five but made the most of their limited goal scoring opportunities. Galbraith finished with ten saves.

Your Wildcats continue the road trip as they travel to Bellingham, Wash to face Western Washington on Saturday. October 26th. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Harrington field.
