Wildcats Earn Draw on The Road

BILLINGS, Mont. – Central Washington's women soccer team (1-3-2, 0-2-1 GNAC) tied 1-1 against Motana State Billings (3-3-1, 0-2-1 GNAC) on Thursday evening in a conference showdown. Kendall McGraw found herself all alone just outside the 18-yard box in the 55th minute, when she rifled a shot to the top right corner to give MSU the lead. Jordan Bartlow responded for CWU by converting a penalty kick in the 73rd minute to bring the game back to a tie.

QUOTING HEAD COACH LINDSEY LEE
"Very glad to see the ladies grind it out on the road against Billings. We're getting closer to finding our rhythm and consistency in front of goal."

FIRST HALF
It was a scoreless first half in which MSUB outshot the 'Cats 11 to six. A shot from Paige Savage in the fourth minute almost gave the Wildcats the lead but goalkeeper Claire Brogden was there to make the save. Goalkeeper Danika Galbraith was a defensive specialist as she made five saves. Emily Darcy led the 'Cats with two shots on goal and was a force in the attacking half of the field. Jackie Sharp led the yellowjackets with seven shots attempted and four shots on goal. Teammate Erika Wilson was close behind with two shots on goal.

SECOND HALF
10 minutes into the half, Monica Brown set up her teammate nicely as McGraw received the pass at the edge of the box and rifled to the back of the net to give MSUB the lead. Galbraith was phenomenal as she made seven saves to keep the Crimson and Black in the game. The 'Cats were outshot 16 to nine but offensively looked more promising by pushing numbers forward. The breakthrough came in the 73rd minute when Bartlow stepped up and calmly shot the ball to the bottom corner, giving Central a tie. Darcy came close to giving CWU the lead as she rifled a shot from long distance in the 89th minute, but ultimately did not test the keeper.
