PORTLAND, Ore. – E'lexis Hollis has been named the first Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week after her performance at the Spokane Invitational the Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced Monday afternoon.
"E'lexis had a really nice opening weekend," CWU Head Track & Field Coach
Jonathan Hill said. "She's been working hard on details of her race and looking for areas to improve. I'm pleased with her start in the 60, but I'm really happy with how she's embraced the 200. Her confidence is growing because of the work that she's been putting in."
Hollis started her season out exceptionally strong. She first qualified for the 60-meter finals running a 7.38 second time in the semifinals. She won the women's 60m finals with a time of 7.37 seconds that puts her with the top time in the entirety of NCAA Division II already. She also earned a second-place finish and broke her own CWU record in the 200-meter with a time of 24.26 that slots her in as the third-best time in NCAA Division II currently.
Hollis and the Wildcats will be back in action in the new year when they head back to Spokane, Wash. to participate in the Spokane Indoor Challenge at The Podium on Friday and Saturday January 17-18.
