SAN BERNARDINO, California. – Central Washington Baseball split games with Cal State San Bernardino on Friday. The 'Cats fell 6-3 in game one but ended the day with a solid 3-0 win.
Marcus Manzardo had a great day at the plate connecting for four hits.
Reid Rasmussen picked up his first win of the season. Rasmussen pitched five and two-thirds, struck out seven, and didn't allow a run.

Game One: Cal State San Bernardino 6 – Central Washington 3
SCORING
- Both teams scored one run in the first inning from errors. The Coyotes tacked on another one when Patrick Fregoso's ground out scored Daryl Ruiz.
- Central Washington scored in the third to tie the game at two.
- Shedlock roped an RBI single to left field that scored Garcia Jr. and put Cal State San Bernardino up 5-2.
- The Coyotes only allowed one run in the final three innings to earn the 6-3 game one victory.
HITTING
- Marcus Manzardo had a great game at the plate for Central Washington. He went 3-4, scored two runs, and walked. Five other Wildcats registered a hit.
- Cal State Bernardino's best hitter was Jason Shedlock, who hit 2-4 with one RBI.
- Tyler Vanneste and Jacob Mejia both roped doubles for their lone hits of the game.
PITCHING
- Jonathan Garza II got the start for Central Washington. Garza II pitched five innings and struck out two batters.
- Aaron Robertson came on to relieve Garza II. Robertson threw three innings and fanned one batter.
- Benny Olguin got the start for Cal State San Bernardino. Olguin worked five innings and recorded two strikeouts to pick up his first win of the season.
- John Pfeffer came in and recorded the final two outs of the game, which earned him his second save of the season.
Game Two: Central Washington 3 – Cal State San Bernardino 0
SCORING
- After two, three up three down innings in the fourth and fifth, the 'Cats got on the board in the sixth. Manzardo singled to the left side, then advanced to second on a past ball. Then, Austin Ohland stepped into the batters box and hit a single that scored Manzardo and put the 'Cats up 1-0.
- Max Bledy led off the seventh inning with a single to left, next up Hinkle got hit by a pitch, and a walk drawn by "Baba" Varner Jr. loaded the bases for Kellen Berg.
- Berg mashed a single through the left side, which scored Bledy and Hinkle to put the 'Cats up 3-0.
- Drew Richardson shut down Cal State San Bernardino in the bottom of the seventh to secure the 3-0 win for Central Washington.
HITTING
- Kellen Berg hit 1-3 and had two RBIs.
- Ben Leid went 1-4 with a double and Austin Ohland was 1-3 with an RBI.
- Max Bledy had a hit in two at bats and scored a run.
- The Wildcats held the Coyotes to three hits.
PITCHING
- Reid Rasmussen got the start for the crimson and black and picked up his first win of the season. Reid pitched five and two-thirds scoreless innings and recorded seven strikeouts.
- Drew Richardson relieved Rasmussen and picked up his first save of the season. Richardson threw 1.1 innings, struck out two batters, and only allowed a hit.
- In the loss, Carter Herrera fanned nine batters over six innings for the Coyotes.
