ELLENSBURG, Wash.- The Central Washington University baseball team [19-21 (13-11)] would split their 2 game series Saturday in 21 innings against Eastern Oregon University, seeing the Wildcats win game one 9-1, and drop game two 11-9 in 12 innings.
Jonathan Garza II was dealing in game one for the Wildcats, he would pick up 10 strikeouts in game one for CWU.
Austin Ohland would become the all time leader in home runs hit by a Wildcat when he would mash a curveball over the left field wall in game one, Ohland has 30 career home runs in his 5 seasons.

G1: CWU- 9 EOU- 1
The Wildcats would win game one off a big pitching performance by Garza and an 8th inning seeing the 'Cats score 6 in the bottom frame. Garza would get the win recording 10 strikeouts in 7 innings pitched.
Andrew Sharp would finish 3-3 at the plate in game one and two Wildcats would hit home runs in the contest.
Scoring:
- Marcus Manzardo would score from third on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first to lead 1-0.
- Eastern would get its lone run in the 4th inning off a bunt to the pitcher that would bring a run in to score. 1-1.
- Brady Hinkle would single to center to bring around Andrew Sharp in to score in the sixth as the Wildcats would lead 2-1.
- Ryan McCarthy would add one for the Wildcats in the seventh when he would rope a single to center to score Baba. 3-1.
- Austin Ohland would hit a 3 run home run in the 8th inning to extend the lead 6-1.
- Leid would score on a wild pitch to make it 7-1 in the eighth.
- Max Bledy would hit a 2 run home run to cap off the 8th inning for the Wildcats at 9-1.
Hitting:
- The Wildcats would get 9 runs off 13 hits in game one with Sharp finishing 3-3, Hinkle 2-3, and Baba 2-4. Ohland and Bledy would both hit home runs for the 'Cats. Manzardo drew 3 walks in game one.
- Eastern Oregon would finish with 1 run off 4 hits in the contest, seeing Cumberland get their lone RBI off a bunt that would bring one in.
Pitching:
- Garza would get the nod and win in game one, throwing 7.0 IP allowing 1 run (unearned) off 3 hits while striking out 10 batters faced. Beau Kearsey would come in relief and hold the Mountaineers in the eighth inning, and Reid Rasmussen would record two strikeouts while closing it out in the ninth inning.
- Brock Cordes would get the start and be tagged with the loss for EOU, logging 5.0 IP allowing 2 runs off 5 hits. Farnsworth would throw 2.1 innings in relief, allowing 3 runs off 4 hits. Etzkorn would come in relief and throw 0.1 inning, allowing 4 runs off 3 hits. Salstrom finished out the game for the Mountaineers, logging 0.1 IP.
G2: CWU- 9 EOU- 11 (12 inn.)
The Wildcats would battle till the end but ultimately fall short in game two as the top half of the twelfth got away from CWU. The Wildcats would be locked with the Mountaineers at 6-6 following the 8th inning, CWU would have runners on with chances to win in the bottom of the 9th but would be held to head to extra innings. With light running out in the top of the 12th, Eastern Oregon would manage to get 5 runs across, securing the win in the bottom frame with the Wildcats able to grab a few, but leaving the tying run aboard.
Scoring:
- Eastern Oregon would jump on the small ball game early in game two as they would drop down a few bunts to bring across their first run of the game in the topm of the first to lead 0-1.
- Ohland would tie it up on a single to center that would score Varner Jr. 1-1.
- Leid would pick up an RBI when he would score Madson in the third to make it 2-1.
- EOU would add a trio of unerneed runs in the fourth to lead 2-4.
- Kellen Berg would get the Wildcats back on the board in the sixth inning with a 2 RBI single up the middle to tie it up at 4-4.
- McCarthy would single to center to score Sharp in the seventh inning to lead 5-4.
- Eastern ORegon would a pair in the top of the eighth inning to lead 5-6.
- Berg would come across to tie it up in the bottom of the eighth inning as a wild pitch would get away from the catcher on a drop third strike. 6-6.
- EOU would add 5 in the top of the 12th inning to lead 6-11.
- The Wildcats would get three runs back in the bottom of the 12th inning, started by an RBI triple by Baba but ultimately the 'Cats would fall short 9-11.
Hitting:
- The Wildcats finished game two with 9 runs off of 16 hits in the contest seeing Baba and Ben both pick up 3 hits in the game. Varner Jr. would finish 3-5 at the plate with a double and a triple for the Wildcats. Sharp, Ohland, McCarthy, and Berg would all pick up a pair of hits in the contest on their way to 16 combined hits.
- EOU would finish with 11 runs off of 14 hits in game two,
Pitching:
- Logan Pierce would get the start off the rubber in game two, going 3.1 IP in the contest. Aaron Robertson would pitch 3.2 IP in relief out of the 'pen keeping it on lock allowing 1 run off 2 hits while striking out a trio of Mountaineers. Drew Richardson, Alex Brady, Nolan Milliman, Gabe Butamante, and Reid Rasmussen would all make appearances in relief for the Wildcats.
- Eastern Oregon would see 4 pitchers toe the rubber in game two. Seslar would start the game going 5.0 IP, Sinclair would toss 2.0 IP in relief, Michaels would record a 0.1 of an inning, and Larson gets the win tossing 4.2 IP to close it out.

The Wildcats host the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets next weekend with a four game series set to begin Saturday at 12:00 pm. The Wildcats will be honoring their seniors on Sunday April 28th.
