Former Wildcat Samantha Bowman Helps Rockhampton Cyclones to NBL1 North Championship in Australia

BRISBANE, Australia – Former Wildcat and national player of the year Samantha Bowman has maintained her winning ways down under helping the Rockhampton Cyclones to the NBL1 North Championship this past weekend.

Now in year two with the Cyclones, Bowman has helped guide the squad to two-straight NBL1 North Championship series, avenging their 2-0 championship series setback from a season ago to the Northside Wizards by taking a 2-1 series victory this year to earn the team's first NBL1 North championship since 2016.

Over the three-game series, Bowman averaged 15.3 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game, 2.7 steals per game, 0.7 assists per game, and 0.3 blocks per game. Bowman, a starter for the Cyclones, did not leave the floor, playing in all 120 minutes of action over the three-game series.

In game one of the series, Bowman posted 15 points, nine rebounds, and one steal backing it up in game two with a 17-point, five rebound, one steal, and one block performance. In the final game she tacked on 14 points, six rebounds, six steals, and two assists to help the Cyclones clinch the NBL1 North Championship.

Bowman has continued to excel professionally after a phenomenal career with CWU. This season she's posted 19.81 points per game, 11.43 rebounds per game, 2.86 assists per game, 0.67 blocks per game, and 2.24 steals per game.

Bowman, the 2023 GNAC Player of the Year and 2023 D2CCA Roy Lenz National Player of the Year wrapped up her Wildcat career in 2023 and was a back-to-back statistical champion in double-doubles and in 2022 led the entire NCAA in rebounds per game with 15.9. For her career, Bowman posted 13.6 points per game, 10.2 rebounds per game, two assists per game, 167 blocks, and 129 steals and compiled a total of 1,632 points and 1,219 rebounds as a Wildcat.
