CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Central Washington University (1-1-0, 0-0-0 GNAC) suffered a tough loss on the road against #1 Point Loma Nazarene University (2-0-0, 0-0-0 PacWest) in a non-conference match up on Saturday afternoon at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center. 1-0 was the result as PLNU got their fourth ever win against CWU.
HOW IT HAPPENED
PLNU dominated the match outshooting Central Washington 20 to two, with five of the Sea Lions shots being on target. Goalkeeper
Danika Galbraith made four great saves that kept the Wildcats in range throughout the match, but it was Gianna Masinter who found the back of the net to give PLNU the lead right before the halftime whistle. Point Loma continued to play well in the second half but could not score any more goals due to the defensive work put in by CWU's back line.
FIRST HALF
The Sea Lions took a 1-0 lead into halftime as they overwhelmed the 'Cats outshooting them 12 to one.
Jordan Bartlow took the only shot attempt for CWU. The breakthrough came when Masinter rifled a shot to the bottom left corner in the 44
th minute right before the halftime whistle. The assist came from Alana Diaz as she placed a perfect pass to her teammate. Central Washington finished the half with no fouls while PLNU had seven fouls committed. Goalkeeper Galbraith made two saves.
SECOND HALF
The Crimson and Black came out of the break looking for an equalizer but couldn't get their goal as
Kelsey Fulton took the only shot attempt for CWU. PLNU once again outshot the 'Cats eight to one and each team committed four fouls. The Sea Lions had six corner kicks taken opposed to the Wildcats one.
