Hollis New School Record Earns Second GNAC Track Athlete of the Week Honor

PORTLAND, Ore.E'lexis Hollis of the Central Washington University track & field team was named the GNAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week after she recorded a conference-leading 200-meter dash at the Nevada Invitational.

QUOTING HEAD COACH JONATHAN HILL
"E'lexis continues to grow and challenge herself. We didn't have the week we wanted in Spokane last weekend, so she went right back to work and tightened up some opportunities in her race. I'm pleased she took that risk to try something new in a completely unfamiliar venue. She is fearless and driven and has big goals for herself. She gets a little rest now and well be back to work fine tuning for championship season."

Hollis earned fourth place in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 24.06, showcasing her impressive speed and leading the conference. She was less than a second off from securing the top spot and set a new school record. Currently, Hollis holds the #1 ranking in the GNAC for the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.29 seconds and sits at #2 in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.06 seconds. After a strong start to the season, she'll aim to maintain her momentum at the upcoming meet.

Hollis and the Wildcats will return to action next week, heading to Seattle and Spokane on Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1 to compete in the UW Invitational and the Inland Northwest Invitational.
