RICHARDSON, Texas – Central Washington University Redshirt Sophomore Defensive Back
Javonte Walker was tabbed the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week after earning the game-sealing pick six in the 'Cats victory over previously undefeated and 6th-ranked UTPB Saturday evening.
"We are proud of Javonte's effort which is a reflection of what our entire defense was able to accomplish on Saturday," CWU Head Football Coach
Chris Fisk said.
Walker logged three tackles on the evening with one coming solo and two coming as assisted tackles. After the 'Cats took the lead on a
Kennedy McGill touchdown run which was insured by a
David Weber 44-yard field goal Walker had the arguable highlight of the evening with a pick six with 18 seconds left in the game to help the 'Cats ensure the victory and to put CWU in the driver's seat of the Lone Star Conference.
Walker and the 'Cats are back on Steve Hertling Field at Tomlinson Stadium as they welcome the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas (3-3, 2-2 LSC) for a Homecoming battle on Saturday, October 18 at 6:00 p.m.
