LILBURN, Ga. – The Central Washington University Women's Basketball Team has earned a spot in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 poll for the first time in the 2025-26 season, landing at 23rd with 78 points.
CWU joins Alaska Anchorage (5-0) as representatives of the GNAC. The Seawolves are currently ranked 17th with 184 points, rising up from 22nd last week. CWU opponents Cal State LA and Mary are just outside the top 25 with 62 and 60 points each, respectfully. The 'Cats take on Mary this weekend in Bellingham at the Lynda Goodrich Classic. The top-five saw some shuffling following Grand Valley State (4-0, 575 points & 23 first-place votes) who remained in first followed by a tie for second between Coker (4-0) and Pittsburg State (3-0) who each have 485 points who are followed by Fort Hays State (4-0 & 474 points) and Minnesota State Mankato (5-0 & 454 points) in fourth and fifth.
The 'Cats are currently 4-0 on the season with all four victories coming over fellow west region teams. They opened the season with a pair of victories at the CCAA-GNAC Crossover over Cal State East Bay and Cal Poly Humboldt. They then swept their time at the GNAC-PacWest Crossover in Nampa, Idaho last week, taking down Vanguard, who is also just outside the top 25, receiving votes in this weeks WBCA Coaches Poll, and concluded the weekend with a victory over Westmont.
The Wildcats will head over to Bellingham, Washington this weekend to participate in the Lynda Goodrich Classic, hosted by Western Washington University. CWU first takes on San Francisco State (2-2) on Friday, November 28 at noon and will conclude the weekend against Mary on Saturday, November 29 at noon with both games happening in Carver Gym.
