INDIANAPOLIS – Both of Central Washington University's basketball teams will be dancing further into the month of March the NCAA announced Sunday evening. The Central Washington men's and women's basketball teams each earned a spot in the NCAA Division II Tournaments marking back-to-back appearances for the men and the women's first appearance since the 2023 Tournament.
The CWU men will head to sunny Southern California to a familiar place in Golden Gymnasium in San Diego on the campus of Point Loma Nazarene University who will play host to the men's west regional. There will be a battle of the Wildcats in the first round as the crimson and black drew the sixth-seed and will play the third-seeded Chico State Wildcats. The 'Cats are joined by fellow-GNAC member and the GNAC Tournament Champions who defeated CWU yesterday, the Seattle Pacific Falcons who will play the hosting Sea Lions in the first round, and the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks who play the second-seeded Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros.
The CWU women will head to a different part of sunny Southern California to a familiar place in the Torodome in Carson on the campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills who will host the women's west regional. The 'Cats played at CSUDH over the holiday break against the Toros. The Wildcats, who earned the sixth-seed, get to play the PacWest champions the third-seeded Point Loma Sea Lions on Friday, March 14. The 'Cats are joined by fellow-GNAC members Alaska Anchorage and Montana State Billings who get to play each other in the first round as the four and five seeds, respectively.
