PORTLAND, Ore. – Central Washington University Women's Basketball junior forward
Fiona Snashall has earned her first career Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week after having back-to-back double-double performances up in Alaska this past weekend.
"Fiona did a great job last week impacting our games in so many facets, filling up the stat sheet scoring, rebounding, assisting, and defending with steals and blocks. That was a critical piece of us coming out of Alaska with two wins. Her impact on this team has been huge and I look forward to continuing to watch her come into her own and take steps towards fulfilling her big potential."
Snashall first helped the 'Cats to a 69-49 victory at Alaska Fairbanks. She finished the game with 15 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, and three steals with only one turnover. She finished the game shooting 6/11 from the floor, 1/5 from three, and a perfect 2/2 at the free-throw line. In the 'Cats 77-65 victory at Alaska Anchorage last Saturday, she added 10 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and two steals with no turnovers. She finished the game shooting 4/13 from the floor, 2/6 from three, and did not attempt a free-throw.
She has been a huge addition to the 'Cats this season after coming over from fellow NCAA Division II school Regis in Denver. She is currently averaging 12.5 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game and has added 29 assists, 18 steals, and a team-high 19 blocks. She also is averaging 54.7 percent from the floor, 45.5 percent from three, and 50 percent at the charity stripe this season.
Snashall and the crimson and black will be home for the first time in 2026 this weekend as they welcome the Simon Fraser Red Leafs and Western Washington Vikings. CWU and SFU clash on Thursday, January 8 at 5:15 p.m. The 'Cats and 'Vikes meet up on Saturday, January 10 at 5:00 p.m. with both games happening inside Nicholson Arena.
