HAYWARD, Calif. – The Central Washington University baseball team split the final doubleheader of its series with Cal State East Bay on Sunday afternoon, coming back and winning the first game of the day after trailing by five runs, while the Pioneers found early runs and held on for the finale win.

GAME 1:
SCORING:
- East Bay opened the game with three runs with Gio Martini hitting a single that drove in two RBIs, Carson Cripe hitting a sacrifice flyout to score Dylan Unangst, and Alijah Ramos scoring on a passed ball, giving CSUEB the early 3-0 lead.
- Dominick Najar extended the lead in the fourth inning with a sacrifice flyout to allow Micah Cervantes to tag up and score to make it a 5-0 lead.
- In the top of the fifth, the Wildcats' bats came alive and scored six-straight runs with Andre Garza scoring on a passed ball for the first run, and then Max Bledy, Logan Lipscomb, Conrad Henkel, Andrew Charron, Logan Blank, and Sinclair Lee each hit for an RBI to give Central a 6-5 lead in the fifth inning.
- Garza would get a final insurance RBI in the ninth with a single through the left side to score Kaiden Hernandez, as CWU held on to win the game 7-5.
HITTING:
- Logan Blank, Andrew Charron, Andre Garza, Conrad Henkel, Sinclair Lee, and Logan Lipscomb each recorded an RBI, while Garza led with three hits.
- Kaiden Hernandez scored two runs while Blank, Garza, Henkel, Max Bledy, and Ethan Swenson each scored a run.
- The Wildcats reached base 14 times by hits and walks.
PITCHING:
- Kyler Malnar pitched 4.2 innings, allowing five runs, four hits, and walking four of the 24 batters he faced.
- Drake Anderson pitched three innings and earned the win, allowing zero runs, zero hits, walking one, and striking out two of the 10 batters he faced.
- Kellen Berg pitched 1.1 innings and earned the save, allowing zero runs, one hit, and walking one of the six batters he faced.
- Matthew Orozco pitched five innings for the Pioneers, allowing six runs, six hits, no walks, and striking out four of the 22 batters he faced.
- Derek Murphy pitched one inning for the Pioneers, allowing zero runs, one hit, two walks, and striking out one of the six batters he faced.
- Alexander Hocking pitched two innings for the Pioneers, allowing zero runs, one hit, two walks, and striking out one of the eight batters he faced.
- William Gnibus pitched one inning for the Pioneers, allowing one run, one hit, one walk, and striking out two of the five batters he faced.
GAME 2:
SCORING:
- The Pioneers took command of the game early after Caleb Chance, Nick Thomson, and Marc DiCarlo Jr., recorded an RBI each to give East Bay a 3-0 lead in the second inning.
- CSUEB got an insurance run in the fourth inning when Dominick Najar grounded out, and Thomson scored from third base on the play to make it 4-0.
- Central got its only run of the game in the fifth, when Logan Lipscomb hit an RBI single down the right-field line to score Andre Garza, as East Bay didn't allow another run and took the game 4-1 in seven innings.
HITTING:
- Andre Garza led the Wildcat offense with two hits and one run scored. Logan Lipscomb was the only other CWU player to record a hit, as well as an RBI.
- The Wildcats reached base three times by hits and walks.
PITCHING:
- Garet Hagy pitched the entire game, allowing four runs, five hits, one walk, and striking out two of the 28 batters he faced.
- Jaxen McAdara pitched the entire game for the Pioneers, allowing one run, three hits, no walks, and striking out seven of the 23 batters he faced.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Central trails the all-time series 9-14.
- These were the teams' 22nd and 23rd games played at the Pioneer Baseball Field.
