Ellensburg Duo Magruder and Hollis Set for USATF Indoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Ellensburg will be represented on the national stage as current Central Washington University freshman standout Colton Magruder and former Wildcat All-American sprinter E'lexis Hollis, who both hail from Ellensburg, will compete at the 2026 USATF Indoor Championships.

The championships will be held from February 28 through March 1 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, New York. Hosted by USA Track & Field, the meet serves as a national qualifying event for Team USA ahead of the 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships, scheduled for March 20-22 in Toruń, Poland.

The two-day competition will bring together the nation's top professional and collegiate athletes who have met stringent qualifying standards. Athletes must meet every entry standard within the designated qualifying window and place among the top finishers at the national meet to be eligible for Team USA selection. In individual events, the top two finishers who have achieved the World Athletics qualifying standard are eligible for selection to the World Indoor Championships team.

Magruder enters the national championships with momentum after an impressive performance at the GNAC Championships. The freshman claimed the conference title in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.62 seconds and added a third-place finish in the 200 meters at 21.49 seconds.

Hollis, now competing professionally with the Golden State Track Club, continues to build on a decorated career that began at CWU. She debuted her professional career competing at the Spokane Sports Showcase earlier this season. There, she posted a 7.37 second time in the 60-meter preliminary round before finishing sixth in the final with a time of 7.47 seconds.

The 2026 USATF Indoor Championships will feature a full slate of track and field events, including the 60 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 1500 meters, 3000 meters, 60-meter hurdles, relays, and a complete field event program. The Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, one of the premier indoor track venues in the country, has hosted multiple national-level competitions throughout its decade-long history and was the first facility in the United States to be recognized as a certified International Association of Athletics Federations facility.

Fans can watch the competition live via USATF.TV, with national television coverage airing on NBC on Sunday.
