INDIANAPOLIS – The Central Washington University Women's Basketball Team was ranked in the top spot of the west region in the first ranked NCAA regional rankings.
This was the first NCAA regional ranking with actual 1-10 rankings of the teams in the region as the first regional ranking that was released last week was in alphabetical order. The top seed in the region earns the right to host the regional tournament.
The CWU Women's Basketball Team is 23-4 on the season and leading the GNAC with a 14-3 record. The Wildcats earned a road split last weekend, falling at Western Oregon 66-57 before bouncing back for a huge 55-49 victory at Saint Martin's. The Wildcats will conclude the regular season this Saturday when they host Northwest Nazarene at 1:00 p.m. inside Nicholson Arena and will honor their three seniors:
Asher Cai,
Aliyah Finch, and
Lylah Spring.
The Wildcats will then head back to Bellingham, Wash. to participate in the GNAC Tournament in which they've already earned a spot, the only thing to be determined is what seed they will land at, having a half game lead over hosting Western Washington, but hold the tiebreaker over the Vikings if the two teams are to conclude the regular season tied thanks to the 'Cats season sweep over Saint Martin's.
