RESULTS
QUOTING HEAD COACH JONATHAN HILL
"To race for a chance to represent your country in international competition is a huge honor. Both these young sprinters earned that opportunity and challenged the world's best. Just like I'd expected, they showed up for the challenge.
Colton finished 18th overall on a huge stage; one he's never seen before. As he collects these experiences (east coast travel, big meets, media and call rooms), he'll perform better and better. I'm very pleased with his attitude taking on all of these challenges.
E'lexis is a pro now. Her childhood dream. She's doing it and doing it well. She's a sprinter and this is what she does. Making finals, then placing 6th (and being that close to 4th) in the United States is an unbelievable accomplishment in her first U.S. championship. I'm so proud of her, honored to be along this journey with her, and excited to see her share her new experiences with the group back home."
ABOUT THE MEET
Magruder placed 18th in the 60-meter dash preliminary round with a time of 6.75 seconds, narrowly missing a spot in the top eight needed to advance to the final. Competing in a field that featured standout names such as Noah Lyles and Trayvon Bromell, Magruder proved he belongs on the big stage. As just a freshman, he will look to build on the experience and continue his ascent in the seasons ahead.
Hollis delivered an impressive performance in the 60-meter dash, placing eighth in the preliminary round with a time of 7.26 seconds, a new personal best, to secure the final qualifying spot. In the final, Hollis raised the bar again, finishing sixth in 7.23 seconds, marking another personal best and finishing just hundredths of a second shy of fourth place. Now competing professionally, Hollis will aim to carry this momentum into next season.
