MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Central Washington University baseball team opened the series against Western Oregon on the road by splitting the first doubleheader.

GAME 1:
SCORING:
- The Wolves struck first in the third inning with Alex Angevine hitting a two-run dinger to take the early lead. Later in the frame, Zane Garvey hit an RBI single to center field to make it 3-0.
- Chris Arce followed that up in the fourth with an RBI single to right field, extending the Wolves' lead to 4-0.
- Central got on the board in the fifth inning when Ethan Buckley doubled to right-center to drive in Logan Blank. Andre Garza followed with an RBI single up the middle to cut the deficit to 4-2.
- WOU answered in the sixth inning when Zane Garvey doubled to center field, bringing two runners home to push the lead to 6-2.
- The Wolves followed up in the seventh with Tyler Mohler scoring on a fielder's choice by Collin Irwin to make it 7-2.
- Western continued the run into the eight with Mohler hitting an RBI single through the right side to increase the lead to 8-2.
- CWU wasn't going down easy though in the ninth when Andrew Charron singled and Kaiden Hernandez walked, and Ethan Buckley doubled to left-center field to drive in both runners, trimming the margin to 8-4, but the rally stopped there as the Wolves took game one.
HITTING:
- Ethan Buckey led the 'Cats with three RBIs, while recording three hits and scoring one run.
- Andre Garza recorded an RBI and a hit.
- Four other Wildcats recorded a hit each, including Kaiden Hernandez, Sinclair Lee, Ethan Swenson, and Andrew Charron.
- The Wildcats reached base 13 times by hits and walks.
- Zane Garvey led Western Oregon with three RBIs and two hits, while Alex Angevine recorded two RBIs, a hit, and scored a run. Three other Wolves recorded an RBI including Chris Arce, Collin Irwin, and Tyler Mohler.
PITCHING:
- Austin Cupic pitched 5.1 innings, allowing six runs, 10 hits, and striking out two of the 28 batters he faced.
- Braden Zadow pitched 0.1 innings, allowing one run, zero hits, facing three batters.
- Lance Mittelman pitched two innings, allowing one run, two hits, facing nine batters.
- Ayden Holker pitched six innings for the Wolves, allowing two runs, six hits, and striking out seven of the 26 batters he faced.
- Hunter Lutman pitched three innings for the Wolves, allowing two runs, two hits, and striking out five of the 14 batters he faced.

SCORING:
- The Wildcats opened the scoring for game two when Jake Lockwood hit a solo home run to left field in the third inning.
- Western Oregon would find the equalizer in the fifth inning when Benny Nazario singled to left-center field to drive in Jason Olsen to tie it up at one run apiece.
- Central didn't take long to reclaim the lead in the sixth when Conrad Henkel singled up the middle to drive in Ethan Buckley and Kellen Berg to give CWU a 3-1 lead. Right after that, Max Bledy ripped a double down the left-field line as Henkel scored from first base to give Central a 4-1 lead. A lead they would hold to win in seven innings.
HITTING:
- Conrad Henkel led the Wildcats with two RBIs, one hit, and one run scored.
- Max Bledy and Jake Lockwood each recorded an RBI and a hit.
- Kellen Berg recorded two hits, while two other Wildcats recorded a hit each including Andre Garza and Andrew Charron.
- The Wildcats reached base 11 times by hits and walks.
- Benny Nazario led the Wolves with one RBI and one hit, while Alex Harden and Gunnar Shiotani each recorded a hit.
PITCHING:
- Garet Hagy pitched all seven innings, allowing one run, three hits, and striking out seven of the 25 batters he faced.
- Wyatt Rosales pitched 4.2 innings for the Wolves, allowing one run, four hits, and striking out two of the 19 batters he faced.
- Max Holden pitched 1.1 innings for the Wolves, allowing three runs, three hits, and striking out one of the eight batters he faced.
