ARCATA, Calif. – The Central Washington University Women's Soccer Team (0-1) fell just shy in their first regular season matchup at Cal Poly Humboldt (1-0) Thursday afternoon at College Creek Field.

FIRST HALF:
The first half proved to be on the quieter side as the two teams combined for three total shots with Humboldt's shot landing on goal.
Marisa Badillo had the 'Cats first shot of the half at the 6:44 mark. Heidie Munoz forced CWU starting goalkeeper
Danika Galbraith to make a save in the bottom center of the net. A shot by
Alexa Stanfield at the 40:30 mark went just high of the net as the two teams went to the locker room knotted up.
SECOND HALF:
Both teams woke up in the second half, combining for a total of 15 shots with six shots needing saves by their respective goalkeepers. Charlotte Alvarez logged the first shot for CPH at the 45:43 mark just to be backed up by the only goal of the game at the 46:09 mark as Sari Murphy found the back of the net thanks to an assist from Munoz. The Lumberjacks kept piling on from there with three more shots following the goal with Galbraith needing to save one in the bottom center of the net.
Kylee Schreck earned her first collegiate shot at the 52:18 mark and was backed by a shot from
Haley Engstrom that went just far left of the goal. Galbraith was tested once again at the 61:02 mark with a shot that she saved in the bottom center of the goal only to see Stanfield make the 'Jacks goalkeeper Adea Nunes go into action with a shot that Nunes saved in the bottom center of the goal. Cal Poly Humboldt rattled off one more shot before a yellow card was issued at the 73:25 mark to Bre Mello of the 'Jacks. They didn't let that rattle them as they added three more shots with Galbraith adding another save to her game resume.
Shannah Mellick earned her first shot of the season at the 79:38 mark, but Schreck followed that by also receiving her first collegiate yellow card at the 81:01 mark. Four fouls on the Lumberjacks concluded the game as Humboldt held on for the 1-0 victory to begin the 2026 campaign.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Cal Poly Humboldt now leads the all-time series 8-4.
- CWU is 2-3 in Arcata.
- The Lumberjacks are on a three game winning streak.
