ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University soccer team wraps up its nonconference schedule Sunday with a road match against Seattle at Championship Field. The Wildcats will look to carry momentum into conference play as they face their final tune-up before GNAC competition begins, taking on a Seattle squad from the Division I ranks at 4 p.m. in Seattle, Washington.

LAST WEEKEND:

Central Washington earned a pair of draws during its home-opening weekend at the CWU Women's Soccer Tournament, playing Metro State and UC Merced to 1-1 results to move to 0-2-2 on the season. The Wildcats picked up their first point of the year against Metro State on Sept. 3, responding just over four minutes after the Roadrunners scored when Cam Sheets found the equalizer in the 62nd minute off an assist from Emma Barrett. CWU controlled much of the match offensively, outshooting Metro State 11-9, placing eight shots on goal, and holding a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.
 
The Wildcats followed with another 1-1 draw against UC Merced on Sept. 5. Shannah Mellick gave Central a 1-0 lead in the 44th minute on a pass from Kylee Schreck, but the Bobcats answered early in the second half to level the match. Goalkeepers Danika Galbraith and Leighton Menge combined for five saves, while Mellick led the attack with two shots, both on target. Through four matches, the Wildcats have allowed just five goals and enter their final nonconference contest looking to build on back-to-back positive results.
 
 
SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS:
 
Seattle U enters Sunday's match with a 3-2-2 record and has been especially tough to beat at home, posting a 3-0-1 mark at Championship Field. The Redhawks opened the season with a 4-0 loss to Kansas State in Hawaii before battling No. 23 Texas Tech to a scoreless draw. Seattle U then responded with victories over Montana (4-0), Nevada (4-0), and Gonzaga (3-2), in addition to a 1-1 draw against Simon Fraser. Most recently, the Redhawks dropped a narrow 1-0 decision at No. 11 Washington on Sept. 4.
 
Offensively, U'i Kaaihue leads Seattle U with four goals and three assists, while Kailee Wilson has added two goals and an assist. Kyla Schuster paces the team with four assists, and Vivien Villarreal has contributed two goals. In goal, Rachael Remnet owns a 0.66 goals-against average, an .813 save percentage, and two shutouts in six appearances. As a team, the Redhawks have outscored opponents 12-8 and recorded three shutouts through their first seven matches.
