Behind the strong play of junior guard Jasmin Edwards, the Central Washington women’s basketball team closed out their 2016-17 campaign winning six of their last seven games to earn a berth into the GNAC Tournament. Edwards played 38 minutes and finished with a team-high 12 points and five assists to upset the three-seeded Simon Fraser University, 58-57, in the opening round of the tournament. Edwards followed this performance by setting the GNAC Championships single-game record for assists with 10 against Western Washington University. She added seven points and two steals in the contest as well. A three-time Second Team All-Conference recipient, Edwards averaged 10.6 points and 5.2 assists per game this season.
