Wildcats' Scoring Barrage Continues in 3-1 Win at Western Oregon

Central Has Tallied 10 Goals in Past Three Matches to Close in on .500 Mark

MONMOUTH, Ore. (Nov. 4) -- Three different Central Washington players scored goals, helping lead the Wildcat women's soccer team to its third straight win, 3-1, over host Western Oregon on Wednesday afternoon.

The Wildcats, who have scored 10 goals in their last three matches, improved to 8-9-1 overall and evened their Great Northwest Athletic Conference record at 5-5-1. Western Oregon ended its season at 5-12-3 overall and 3-9-0 in GNAC play.

Sophomore Serena Tomaso (Enumclaw) and junior Kaycie Hutchins (Port Orchard/Bellarmine Prep) each scored their fifth goal of the season, while freshman Carson McKole (Oak Harbor) scored the eventual game-winner at the 26th minute, which gave Central a 2-0 lead at the time. Tomaso got the Wildcats on the board at the 15th minute off an assist from sophomore Brittany Franks (Yakima/West Valley HS), while sophomore Alex Jensen (Yakima/West Valley HS) assisted on McKole's tally.

Western Oregon scored its only goal just 45 seconds after McKole's tally, with Marina Austin being credited with her second goal of the season.

Central extended the lead to 3-1 at the 60th minute, as Hutchins, the conference co-leader in assists with eight, scored off a corner kick pass from junior defender Amanda Biggs (Carnation/Cedarcrest HS). Hutchins' 18 points on the season are the most by a Wildcat player since Rachel Casillas' 17 points during the 2003 season.

For the match, Central Washington finished with a 14-10 edge in shot attempts and a 6-2 margin in corner kicks. Senior Amber Easterbrook (Kent/Kentwood HS) made five saves in goal for the Wildcats in earning her 30th career goalkeeping victory. McKole had four shot attempts to lead a balanced attack, while Tomaso was credited with three shots.

Rachelle Kliewer had five of Western Oregon's 10 shot attempts, including two on goal.

Central Washington closes out its 2009 season on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 7) at 2 p.m. against Saint Martin's University in Lacey.
