Rain Causes Cancellation of Saturday Play at Best of the West Invite

Wildcats Will Now Play Three on Sunday at Tournament

TURLOCK, Calif. (Feb. 6) -- Persistent rains in central California have caused the cancellation of Saturday play at the 2010 Mizuno Best of the West Invitational softball tournament at Pedretti Park.

Central Washington (0-2) was scheduled to face Sonoma State (1-1) and 11th-ranked Humboldt State (1-1) on Saturday afternoon at the tournament. The Wildcats' game against Sonoma State has been moved to Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m., while the contest against the Lumberjacks will not be rescheduled.

As a result, Central will play three games on Sunday. The Wildcats will face San Francisco State (0-2) at 9:30 a.m. and tournament host Cal State Stanislaus (1-2-1) at 11:45 a.m. as originally scheduled. They will then close out the tournament against Sonoma State before busing back to Ellensburg.

CWU opened its 2010 season with a pair of shutout losses on Friday at the tournament. The Wildcats managed just three hits in a 2-0 loss to UC San Diego and then lost 3-0 to Cal State Dominguez Hills despite outhitting the Toros by an 8-7 count.
