More Rain Wipes Out Wildcats' Stay in Turlock

Tournament Play Canceled Due to Wet Fields for Second Straight Day

TURLOCK, Calif. (Feb. 7) -- For the second consecutive day, the Central Washington University softball team has seen its scheduled games at the Mizuno Best of the West Invitational washed away by rain at Pedretti Park.

Tournament play was canceled due to rain and wet field conditions for the second consecutive day, leaving CWU with just two games played out of an originally-scheduled six at the three-day tournament. Central lost to UC San Diego (2-0) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (3-0) in its two games on Friday. None of Sunday's three games -- against San Francisco State, Cal State Stanislaus, and Sonoma State -- will be rescheduled and the Wildcats will return to Ellensburg.

2010 marks the second straight year that at least one full day of tournament play at the Best of the West Invitational has been canceled. The Wildcats lost two games due to weather at the February tournament last spring.

Central Washington is not scheduled to return to the field until its Feb. 27 Great Northwest Athletic Conference-opening doubleheader against Western Oregon at Gary & Bobbi Frederick Field in Ellensburg.
