NAMPA, Idaho (Sept. 16) -- The Central Washington University women's soccer team ended its five-game, season-opening road trip with a 1-0 loss to Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho, on Thursday afternoon.
Central now stands with a 0-4-1 record on the season (0-1-0 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) and extends their winless streak to six games dating back to last season. With the win, the Crusaders improved to 3-2-0 (1-0-0 GNAC).
Northwest Nazarene's Jenny Field recorded the lone goal of the game in the 36th minute when she took a shot off of a Wildcat defender's dribble from 15 yards out and scored to give the Crusaders a 1-0 advantage.
“We are well away from what we have strived to do the last four years, and it shows when we play.” said CWU head coach
Michael Farrand. “If we continue to struggle, it's going to be a long season for us.”
Freshman goalkeeper
Kori Butterfield (Duvall/Cedarcrest) started for the fourth time this season and recorded 3 saves for the Wildcats. So far this season, Butterfield has a record of 0-3-1 and a goals-against average of 1.14.

The Wildcats hope to bounce back this Saturday, Sept 18, in their home opener as against Montana State Billings at the CWU Soccer Field at 11 a.m.
