QUICK NOTES
ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS FOR TRY: CWU senior Kady Try (Brentwood, Calif./Mead HS) had a banner opening weekend to the 2010 season, totaling 51 kills and 39 digs in the Wildcats' four matches at the Phoenix Inn GNAC Conference Challenge last weekend. She also hit at a .203 clip -- the second-highest percentage among Wildcat regulars -- on her way to earning all-tournament team honors. Central finished 1-3 at the tournament, with all three losses coming against teams ranked in the top 10 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II pre-season poll.

GNAC OPENERS: Now in year number 10 as a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, Central Washington has won seven of its previous nine conference openers. Of those seven wins to debut GNAC play, six have been 3-0 sweeps. The Wildcats' only two losses in GNAC openers have both been at Western Oregon -- in 2007 and 2009.

BORDER CROSSING: The Wildcats will travel across the Canadian border for the first time since the 1999 season when they visit SFU tonight. However, Central has had a recent taste of Canadian volleyball, as they took on the University of British Columbia in an exhibition match last year as part of the WWU Invitational tournament in Bellingham.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE: Central Washington will play a rare Sunday afternoon match this weekend as the Wildcats host archrival and number 18 nationally-ranked Western Washington at 3 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 12). That contest will open up a two-match home stand and is the first of a stretch where CWU plays six of its next seven matches inside Nicholson Pavilion.
