ELLENSBURG (Oct. 15) -- The Central Washington University women's soccer team outshot Simon Fraser University 34-4, but the Wildcats were unable to score Saturday morning at the CWU Soccer Field, resulting in a 0-0 tie.

The Wildcats are now 6-3-4 on the season, 5-2-2 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference where they remain in third place.  Simon Fraser moved to 1-9-1, 0-8-1 in the GNAC.

Central Washington had plenty of opportunities to score against SFU as ten of its shots were on the opposition's goal, with each of them being stopped by Simon Fraser goalie Amelia Ng.

The Wildcats best scoring chance came in the second half as SFU was called for a hand-ball penalty inside the CWU goalie box, resulting in a penalty kick for Central in the 71st minute. Wildcat junior Carson McKole (Oak Harbor) kicked the PK attempt, but Ng guessed correctly and blocked the shot.

The 34 shot attempts by the Wildcats were the most by a Wildcat team since the 2005 season.  CWU had a 23-2 advantage in shots in regulation, including 13-0 in the first half.  They also had a 13-1 edge in corner kicks, which was also the most by a Wildcat team since 2005.

Eleven different CWU players recorded a shot in the match, led by McKole who had seven.  Seniors Amy Pate (Federal Way/Thomas Jefferson HS) and Brittany Franks (Yakima/West Valley HS) both had six shots, followed by Hadli Farrand (Ellensburg) with four shots and Serena Tomaso (Enumclaw) and Hillary Franks (Yakima/West Valley HS) with three apiece.

Central will next play its first away game in 16 days as they travel to Monmouth, Ore. on Thursday, Oct. 20 to play Western Oregon University at 3 p.m.
