ELLENSBURG (Oct. 7) – The Central Washington University women's soccer team surrendered four second-half goals in span of 13-plus minutes, losing 5-2 against 15th-ranked Seattle Pacific University on Friday afternoon at the CWU Soccer Field.

The Wildcats' unbeaten streak was snapped at four games as they fell to 5-3-3 overall and 4-2-1 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference competition. The Falcons improved to 9-2-0 overall and 6-1-0 in the GNAC.

Central fell behind 1-0 when SPU forward Kellie Zakrzewski scored her first of two goals in the 27th minute from 15 yards out.

In the closing minutes of the first half, Central Washington senior Amy Pate (Federal Way/Thomas Jefferson HS) took a pass from freshman Savanna Moorehouse (Bonney Lake) in front of the net and scored to tie the match at 1-1 heading into halftime.

Pate now has 13 career goals as a Wildcat, of which five have come against Seattle Pacific, including at least one goal in each of the last four meetings against the Falcons.

Seattle Pacific opened the second half by scoring four goals in the first 13:12. The Falcons scored the go-ahead goal 31 seconds into the second half, followed by two goals in the 50th minute and one in the 59th to give SPU a commanding 5-1 advantage.

A late rally by CWU resulted in senior Brittany Franks' (Yakima/West Valley HS) second goal of the season in the 81st minute. Franks received a pass from Pate, lined up the goal and struck the back of the Falcons' net from 20 yards away.

Seattle Pacific took a 22-13 advantage in shots over the Wildcats, and an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.  Pate led the Wildcats with three shot attempts, followed by freshmen Hadli Farrand (Ellensburg), Sydney Coleman (Auburn/Auburn Mountainview), and Danielle Brandli (Bellevue/Interlake HS) with two apiece.

The Wildcats continue their five-game home stand next Thursday (Oct. 13), hosting archrival Western Washington University at 4 p.m. at the CWU Soccer Field.
