CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 15) -- Central Washington University sophomore Stan Langlow (University Place/Curtis HS) has been named a pre-season Division II All-American by
Sporting News in its annual pre-season publication.
Langlow, who started nine of the Wildcats' games at safety as a redshirt freshman in 2010, led the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with seven interceptions. He finished sixth on the team with 32 tackles and was a second-team all-GNAC selection during his rookie season in the Crimson and Black.
Langlow was the only player from the GNAC named to
Sporting News' pre-season All-American team. He was one of just five sophomores among 27 players named to the squad.
In the pre-season team rankings, Central Washington was not listed among the publication's top 25, but the Wildcats' two non-conference opponents in 2011 -- Texas A&M Kingsville and West Texas A&M -- were both ranked. Texas A&M-Kingsville, which visits Tomlinson Stadium for the Sept. 2 season opener, was listed seventh, while West Texas A&M, whom the Wildcats face on Oct. 29 in Canyon, Texas, was tabbed 23rd.
CWU went 8-3 last season and claimed its fifth consecutive Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship.
