ELLENSBURG (Oct. 13) -- Senior CARSON MCKOLE (Oak Harbor) scored goals at the 32nd and 58th minutes, helping lead the Central Washington University women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over visiting Northwest Nazarene University on Saturday morning.

The Wildcats snapped a five-match losing streak with Saturday's victory, improving to 4-8-2 overall and 3-6-1 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. They also completed a season sweep of the Crusaders, who fell to 6-8-0 overall and 3-7-0 in the conference.

McKole, who scored her sixth and seventh goals of the season on Saturday, snapped an extensive scoreless streak for the CWU offense. She beat NNU goalkeeper Tanya Zickefoose in a 1-on-1 situation after a pass from sophomore HADLI FARRAND (Ellensburg), giving the Wildcats their first goal since the 72nd minute of their Sept. 27 contest at Saint Martin's.

McKole then added an insurance tally 12 minutes into the second half, taking passes from freshman REILLY RETZ (Kent/Kentlake HS) and sophomore DANIELLE BRANDLI (Bellevue/Interlake HS) and beating Zickefoose from three yards out to chase the NNU senior keeper from the contest and give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.

CWU had a balanced offensive attack in the shot department, totaling a combined 15 attempts from nine different players. McKole scored on both of her shot attempts, and senior KELSY VILLEGAS (Graham/Graham-Kapowsin HS) was the lone Wildcat to attempt more than two shots in the match.

Sophomore KAYLA LIPSTON (Federal Way/Decatur HS) made four saves in goal for the Wildcats to earn her fourth shutout of the season.

Northwest Nazarene had 13 shots, led by four from Sarah Staropoli. Argia Phillips made four saves in goal in the final 33 minutes for the Crusaders.

CWU continues its home stand next week with two more matches, beginning with a Thursday (Oct. 18) afternoon tilt versus Western Oregon University at 3 p.m.
