NAMPA, Idaho (Oct. 19) -- For the second straight match, sophomore Reilly Retz (Kent/Kentwood HS) scored the lone goal on a penalty kick, propelling the Central Washington University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over host Northwest Nazarene University on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats won for the seventh time in their last eight matches, improving to 9-4-0 overall and 8-2-0 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. NNU fell to 1-9-3 overall and 0-7-3 in the conference.

Retz, who also scored on a penalty kick to defeat Montana State University Billings on Thursday, tallied Saturday's only goal at the 48th minute. She beat goalkeeper Argia Phillips on the play, which had been set up following a handball inside the goalbox by one of the Crusader players.

The match was pretty even statistically throughout, with each team tallying five first-half shots and an identical number of fouls in the contest.

Meanwhile, junior Kayla Lipston (Federal Way/Decatur HS) made the lead hold up by posting her second consecutive shutout. She made six saves -- three in each half -- while keeping the Crusaders off the scoreboard.

Retz led the Wildcats with three shot attempts, including two of the team's four tries on goal. Three others -- forwards Hadli Farrand (Jr., Ellensburg) and Cassie Ripley (So., Vancouver/Skyview HS), as well as junior midfielder Savanna Moorehouse (Bonney Lake) -- had two total shots each.

Northwest Nazarene was led by four shots from Kayla Williams and two each from Sarah Blum and Julianne Steele.

CWU remains on the road next week, visiting Western Oregon University and Saint Martin's University on Thursday (Oct. 24) and Saturday (Oct. 26), respectively.
