MONMOUTH, Ore. (Oct. 24) -- Junior goalkeeper KAYLA LIPSTON (Federal Way/Decatur HS) made a career-high 10 saves, including four in overtime, but the Central Washington University women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with host Western Oregon University on Thursday afternoon.

Unbeaten in eight of their last nine matches, the Wildcats move to 9-4-1 overall and holds a four-point lead over Seattle Pacific University for second place in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings at 8-2-1 with three regular-season matches left. The Wolves extended their conference-best unbeaten streak to eight games and are now 8-2-5 overall and 6-2-3 in GNAC action, pulling into a tie for third place with SPU.

The Wildcats struggled offensively for much of the day, posting just three shots in the 110-minute contest. Lipston and her defense would stay busy, however, facing 15 shots, 10 of which were on target.  Lipston, who turned in her fourth shutout of the season, made the most saves by a Wildcat netminder since 2011.

Junior SAVANNA MOOREHOUSE (Bonney Lake), junior DANIELLE BRANDLI (Bellevue/Interlake HS) and freshman RACHEL COMSTOCK (Santa Clara, Calif.) accounted for the only CWU shots on Thursday -- Moorehouse fired her shot wide in the 20th minute before Brandli and Comstock had their attempts saved by WOU goalkeeper Amanda Rose Johnson in the 65th and 110th minutes, respectively.

Central Washington will play Saint Martin's University on Saturday at 2:45 p.m. In Lacey before returning home for its final home match of the 2013 campaign on Thursday (Oct. 31) against nationally-ranked Western Washington.
