BURNABY, British Columbia (Oct. 3) -- Central Washington University junior Savanna Moorehouse (Bonney Lake) scored the game-winning goal in the 75th as the Wildcats defeated Simon Fraser University by a score of 3-2, extending the women's soccer team's win streak to three games.

With the win the Wildcats move to 5-3-0 with a 4-1-0 record in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Simon Fraser fell to 0-5-2 and 0-3-2 in the GNAC.

Moorehouse, who just earned GNAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, has now scored at least one goal in each of her last three games.

Sophomore Lauren Duty (Black Diamond/Tahoma HS) got the Wildcats on the board first, taking a pass from junior Danielle Brandli (Bellevue/Interlake HS) and scoring on a one-touch shot giving CWU a 1-0 advantage in the 40th minute.

The lead was short-lived, as the Clan scored just over two minutes later tying the match at 1-1 heading into halftime.

Junior Hadli Farrand (Ellensburg) gave CWU a 2-1 early in the second half on a breakaway goal, beating SFU goalie Meg Wilson in the 56th minute.

Again SFU answered back 11 minutes later with forward Jessica Hadden scoring from six yards out.

Moorehouse scored her team-best fourth goal of the season when the Wildcats needed it most, receiving a breakaway pass from defender Morgan Wood (Maple Valley/Tahoma HS) and beating the goalie to give CWU the final 3-2 advantage.

Central Washington outshot the Clan 19-9, led by Moorehouse and senior Tarah Duty (Black Diamond/Tahoma HS) with four each.

The Wildcats will look to extend their winning streak to four games when they take on archrival and second-ranked Western Washington University on Saturday (Oct. 5) at 7 p.m.
