FAIRBANKS, Alaska (Oct. 25) – The Central Washington University volleyball team rebounded from its first loss in five games by putting on an offensive clinic in a 25-18, 25-16, 25-17 sweep over Alaska Saturday evening.
As a team the Wildcats posted a .389 hitting percentage converting 43 attacks into kills with just eight errors on the night.
Leading the offensive of attack were
Linden Firethorne and
Kiah Jones who combined to have 28 kills and hit .429 and .579 respectively.
Jordan Deming also hit at a high level on the night collecting seven kills with a .467 percentage.
Catie Fry assisted on 33 of the kills on the night, and CWU career dig leader led the team with 17 digs.
The Wildcat defense was equally as impressive holding the Nanooks to .188 hitting and had eight team blocks.
Julie Hulbert let the Wildcats with four blocks and
Kaitlin Quirk and Jones had three apiece.
Central Washington was never really in danger in each of the three sets, holding a steady lead in every frame.
Next up the Wildcats take on Simon Fraser and Western Washington on Oct. 30 and Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.
